Welcome to the 2009 season for J.O. Volleyball!!
1. Mandatory Officiating Clinic will be held on Sunday, January 25th at 11:30 a.m. at the
Hutchinson Rec Center. All players are required to attend. Parents of players in the 12s division
and those new to JO are also required to attend the clinic this year to become familiar with JO’s rules,
score keeping, etc.
2. First practice and mandatory parent meeting will be held on Sunday, January 25.
Practice/parent meeting for 12s at 1:15 p.m., 14s at 2:15 p.m., and 16s at 3:30 p.m. You will be able
to meet your daughter’s coach/coaches and ask any questions you may have.
3. Sign up to work at Hutch Tournaments will be on Sunday, January 25. Parents please bring
your calendar to this meeting so you can sign up for the parent’s 3-hour time slot to work at our
Hutchinson tournaments. [March 28th (12s); March 29th (16s); April 4th (14s); April 5th (18s)]. It the
parent’s responsibility to work at the tournament—not the players. Please remember that if you have more than
one child in the JO program, you need to sign up more than once to work. Our policy is at a minimum,
one parent needs to sign up to get the $90 credit; however, we encourage both parents to sign up and
work if possible.
We re requesting that parents of the age group playing on Saturdays and Sundays stay and help clean up the courts and foyer area after the championship matches end. The more hands, the faster the job gets done!
4. Teams. As mentioned in the Objectives and Philosophies handout, all age groups were/will be
divided according to ability. Teams will be determined by the coaches during the first few weeks of
practice for the 12s teams.
5. Practice. Please come to practice with shorts, short sleeve T-shirts, knee pads, tennis shoes, and water
bottle. With the winter weather we encourage the girls to carry their volleyball shoes into practice so the practice
floor does not get wet from snow.
6. Apparel Sales. Players and parents will have an opportunity to order Hutch Volleyball apparel. Samples and
an order form will be available at the parent meetings.
7. Cancellations due to weather. If school is closed or dismissed early due to weather, volleyball practice
will also be cancelled. On the days when school is not in session, please use your best judgment if
weather is questionable. Inclement weather during tournaments will be discussed at the parent meetings on
January 25.
