SAQ stands for Strength/Agility/Quickness. It is a new portion of practice we are implementing, and it will be done 30minutes before or after practices (per the schedule). It will be things such as running stairs, jumping lines on the floor, jumping rope, etc.
Who is doing SAQ?
All the 14's and 16's are doing SAQ this year! Scott Scholl from HAHC is helping JO run this program, and the coaches will be implementing the training at practices. This is a "required" portion of practice in that we want the athletes to be there and use the time and training activities to improve their strength, agility, and quickness!
Why SAQ?
This is a great way for every athlete to improve her strength, agility, and quickness and this should translate to being a better volleyball player. This is also a way to do physical training without the gym space (which is difficult to get as well as expensive), as we will be using hallways and entryways instead of courts for these activities.
This will be a modified version of what the high school program uses since we do not have daily practices. However, there may be homework! These will be activites the girls could do year-round to stay in shape for any sport. We are very excited about this addition to our program!
